Volunteer Information

The Cygnet Folk Festival needs help to run!

The Cygnet Folk Festival is a non-profit event run by the community for the community.

It is the aim of the organisers to provide high class entertainment for the enjoyment of thecommunity at large with as many free events as is practical. We rely heavily on volunteers to make this all happen, as our budget simply cannot support paid staff without seriously affecting the entertainment budget.

THIS IS WHERE YOU CAN HELP US!

Volunteers

The festival needs around 100 volunteers to make it operate over the course of the weekend. Volunteer jobs are varied - Some are very involved, while others are quite straightforward – we let you choose the tasks and level of commitment that suit you.

Some examples of volunteer jobs are:

  • Selling tickets and merchandise at the box office or at the venues
  • Dressing up the town and the park
  • Helping to load in gear and set up the venues
  • Being on the doors of the concert and workshop venues
  • Stage managing individual concerts
  • Housing some of the visiting musicians for the weekend
  • Transporting interstate performers down from and back to the airport ...and many more....

Your assistance as a volunteer will help the festival be of as high a quality as possible, and ensure that it continues to run into the future. We, the volunteers of previous festivals, can assure you that's a pretty rewarding feeling being on the ‘inside’ of the weekend’s events!

Please Contact Us in December if you are interested in getting involved with the festival in January. We ask you for 8 hours of work and in return we give our volunteers a weekend pass. We will hold a volunteers orientation meeting on Monday 7 January at 6.00pm in the Cygnet Town Hall where we explain the roles and responsibilities and delegate tasks that haven't already been allocated. If you can’t make that meeting, we still want your contribution, so email us or phone 03 6295 0202 in December.
