Stallholder Criteria
The Folk Festival Market is an opportunity for local people to sell quality art and craft, both new and second-hand as
well as locally grown and prepared foods. The Folk Festival Market does not wish to encourage the sale of mass
produced, imported low quality items and will give priority to:
• Locally made, or designed art and craft
• Food prepared locally using locally grown produce
• Good quality and innovative objects supporting
niche industries
• Stalls that are well presented.
The market coordinators have the discretion to accept or reject stallholders based on their assessment of the extent to
which the stall meets the criteria. Only the goods described and approved on the application form may be sold from the
stall.
Applications close 23rd November and will be confirmed by email from the 30th of November. Late applications will be
accepted on a case by case basis if space is available.
Not for Profit Stalls
There is a limited number of sites available for local not for profit and community organizations. Application should
be made on a standard form and fees will be set or made exempt at the discretion of the market coordinator.
Prohibited Goods
Second-hand mechanical and electri cal goods, eg. Lawn mowers, TV’s or kitchen
appliances. Anything illegal , eg. counterfeit or copied CD’s and DVD’s.
Sites
All sites must be pre-booked and paid for prior to the Folk Festival weekend.
Site Fees
One day: Sat or Sun - $35
Both days: Sat and Sun - $60
Site Size and Allocation
All sites are 3 x 3m. Stallholders requiring larger will need to book multiple sites and pay accordingly. All structures,
including tables, must be safe and securely tied down and prepared for possible changes in weather.
Set up
Stallholders can begin set up from 7.30am.
No vehicles are allowed on site
If heavy equipment needs to be unloaded this must be arranged with the market coordinators prior to the market.
Pack up
Stallholders may not begin pack up until the market is closed, and make all reasonable effort to vacate the site as soon
as possible. Stalls must remain attended at all times.
Pack up access to vehicles will not occur before 5pm and will only be allowed after a majority of the
public have left and the market coordinators have deemed it safe for vehicle movement.
Vehicle access and Parking
Stallholders may unload and load from vehicles from the street and from the designated stallholder parking area and
need to do so under the direction of the market co-ordinator. A parking pass must be displayed on cars at all times. One
vehicle per stall.
Wet Weather
Extreme wet and windy weather may force the cancellation of the market. It is an uncontrollable possibility. Market
coordinators will only cancel the market if it cannot continue to run safely. Some weather may only prevent the stage
from operating and not effect stallholders.
Food Stalls TBC
The Folk Festival Market supports healthy food. There is a limit on the number of temporary food stalls at the market.
This is to ensure economic viability for both stallholders and local food outlets.
Food stallholders must return to the market coordinators a market application form and a temporary food permit
application from the Huon Valley Council. A special system of approval has been arranged with the Huon Valley
Council.
It is the stallholders responsibility to follow all the permit guidelines and display all relevant licences.
Stallholders must show their license to the market coordinator on arrival or forfeit their site.
Gas
Stallholders using LPG must store and install according to the manufacturers instructions and comply with the
Dangerous Goods General Regulations 1998 and Australia Standards 1595
Stallholders using LPG must have a 2kg chemical powder extinguisher with a 30B (E) rating.
240v Power
At this stage there is no power available on site.
Environment Policy
The Folk Festival Market supports a no plastic bag policy.
All food and drinks must be served in biodegradable containers – no plastic cups, plates or cutlery etc.
Stallholders must remove their own rubbish and cannot use the public bins.
Sites must be left clean and rubbish free.
No dogs are allowed on site.
Buskers
Busking is welcome in designated areas please consult the market coordinator for a space.
Insurance
Stallholders are encouraged to have their own public and product insurance, as neither the Cygnet Folk Festival nor the
Cygnet Arts Council takes any responsibility for any reason including cancellation due to bad weather.
