SERVICES & FACILITIESCygnet is located in Tasmania, which is an island state to the south of Australia. Cygnet is approximately 55 km (about 50 minutes drive) south of the capital of Tasmania, Hobart. Please see our How to Get to Cygnet page. Is there any public transport available from Hobart to Cygnet? Tassielink Coaches and Metro Bus Service operate bus services between Hobart and Cygnet. See Tassielink Coaches Timetable and Fare Schedule and Metro Bus Timetable Route 98 & Metro Bus Fares. When is the Festival held each year? The Cygnet Folk Festival is held yearly on either the first or second week-end of January. There are a number of restaurants, cafes and pubs in Cygnet. In addition, the Festival Market in Loongana Park offers a variety of local produce. Vegetarian and vegan options are also catered. There are some designated parking areas available. If you are driving to Cygnet, allow extra time to walk to your venue. If you are camping in Burtons Reserve and parking near your camp site, you will not be able to move your car during the Festival. There is the usual parking on the streets of town but please observe all signs, road closures, etc. Are there banking facilities in Cygnet? A Commonwealth Bank branch is located in the Main Street of Cygnet and will be open on the Friday prior to the Festival. The Newsagent has an ANZ sub branch which is open from 9.30am to 5 pm on Friday. EFTPOS facilities are available on Saturday from 7.45am to 4.30pm with no restrictions for ANZ customers and a maximum withdrawal of up to $100 for non ANZ customers who make a $10 shop purchase. An ATM is available at the large IGA supermarket and a Bendigo Bank ATM is located next door to the Town Hall. Can you drink the tap water in Cygnet? Tap water in Cygnet is drinkable. Southern Water will also provide a water van at Loongana Park for free public use. We recommend you bring a refillable water bottle. Is there mobile phone coverage? Telstra is the most reliable service provider in Cygnet. iPhone 4 and Android mobile phones can receive an Optus signal and Optus coverage around the Huon Valley is improving. There is a public phone at Loongana Park. Is wireless Internet coverage available? Yes, Telstra Next G wireless broadband is available. Optus wireless internet is available in Cygnet on iPhone 4, Android phones and dongles. Are there medical services available during the Festival? St Johns Ambulance are on call 24/7 during the Festival. Is there an Internet cafe in Cygnet? Yes, Internet access and email services are available at the Online Access Centre at the Cygnet Town Hall. Toilets are available in most venues. Public toilets are located at Loongana Park, Burtons Reserve, the football oval and Lymington Road near the sailing club. Yes, you may bring a camera, however, audio or video recording of concerts and workshops is not permitted. The weather during the Festival can vary so come prepared for a bit of rain, warm/hot sunny days and cool nights. Don't forget to bring a hat, sunglasses and sun cream. Can everyone camp in the Festival Camp ground? Camping at the Burtons Reserve Festival camp ground is only available to holders of a week-end Festival ticket. Please see our Camping Page for details of facilities and our Festival Tickets Page for details of prices. Camping tickets are limited so book early. Week-end festival ticket holders can camp in the Burtons Reserve Festival camp ground. Commercial camping is also available in the Cygnet Holiday Park but this is always busy at Festival time and may book out. Early booking is highly recommended. When does the festival camp grounds open? The Burtons Reserve Festival camp site opens on the Wednesday prior to the Festival. The gates close at 4pm on the Monday after the Festival and camping cannot be extended beyond this time. Are tents available for hire in the Festival Camp Ground? No, you will need to bring your own tent and camping equipment. Are there powered camp sites available in the Festival Camp Ground? No, there are no powered sites or electricity available at the Burtons Reserve Festival Camp ground. There are powered sites at the commercial Cygnet Holiday Park. Can I bring my dog to Burtons Reserve? No, Burtons Reserve is a bird sanctuary and pets of any kind are not allowed. TICKETSHow can I purchase a Festival Ticket and when do they go on sale? Tickets will go on sale from 1 September and can be purchased on-line. Please see our Festival Tickets Page for details of how to purchase. Please note: Only week-end tickets can be purchased on-line. Tickets can also be purchased at the Box Office at the Festival. Please see our Festival Tickets Page for the current Festival prices. Yes, day tickets can be purchased at the Festival but not on-line. Do tickets to the Festival sell out? Yes. Week-end adult tickets can sell out and we recommend you purchase your ticket as early as possible. I've lost/forgotten my ticket - can I get a replacement? Bring some identification to the box office and we may be able to trace your ticket on our documentation. Where do I pick up my ticket/exchange my paper ticket for a wristband? All paper tickets are exchanged for a wristband at the Festival Box Office. Paper tickets are not valid at the venues. Bring your paper ticket to the Festival Box Office - see Festival Map for location. Is there an early bird discount? Yes, please see our Festival Tickets Page for details. Are there any concessions on tickets? Children's tickets are available (5 to 15 years of age). Children under 5 are free. There are concession prices for students and pensioners. We also have a special ticket for families (2 x adults and 2 x children). Is my ticket valid at any venue? No, all tickets must be exchanged for a wristband at the Festival Box Office. A wristband does not guarantee you a seat in a particular concert at a particular time but it will get you into any venue if there is room during the life of the wristband. Can I change my ticket or get a refund if I change my mind? Tickets are not refundable or transferable. Please choose your ticket carefully. PROGRAMWhen is the list of artists announced? The official date varies each year. Keep an eye on the Festival website for announcements and details of the program. Where can I obtain a program before the start of the Festival? As soon as the schedule is finalised in December, a PDF version will be available to download from our website. Information about performers is posted on the website as soon as they are booked. The program booklet is printed just prior to the festival and will be for sale at the Festival. When do the concerts start and finish? Please check the program grid on the Festival website for concert times. We are selling a festival rather than individual concerts and many of our leading performers perform more than once over the weekend. The festival ticket does not guarantee a seat in a particular concert at a particular time but is valid at all venues with vacancies during the life of the ticket. Are disability parking spots available? Yes, some spaces are available in the car park in the main street opposite the Town Hall. I need to bring a carer to assist me - do they need to purchase a ticket? The Festival supports Companion Card. Show us your card and you and your carer can come for the price of a single ticket. Are there any blackboard concerts at the Festival? Yes, there are a number of venues around Cygnet where you can find blackboard concerts. Please check the program for locations. Is there a reserved car park for volunteers? No, you will be competing for parking with the public and may have to walk to your venue or volunteer centre to sign on so allow time for this. FESTIVAL MARKETI would like to have a craft stall at the Festival, how do I arrange that? Application for a stall must be made on-line via the Stall Holder Application Form on the Festival website.
