The Cygnet Folk Festival is celebrating it’s 30th year and has established itself as an important event in the National and International Folk Festival Calendar. It continues to flourish because it is firmly rooted in the communities of Cygnet and the broader Huon Valley. The 30th Cygnet Folk Festival is to be held across various venues in the beautiful town of Cygnet in the Huon Valley, Tasmania from 6-8 January 2012.

Therefore, we are happy to invite sponsors and supporters to make this year an even better festival!

Celebrating 30 years is a major milestone so, there will be many special events and we will be revisiting some of the highlights of past festivals. The festival will feature over 100 acts and more than 400 performers including national, international and local musicians, poets, storytellers and singers. It will attract visitors from near and far including many who have not been to the area before. Attendance over the 3 days is approx 5,000-6,000 people.

How the Festival is Run

The Festival is run by a core, voluntary committee of 13 committed people, with a sub committee of another 12. The festival is completely run by volunteers who do a fantastic job covering all areas of the festival and can number up to 200 over the weekend. 

The Festival provides a unique opportunity to showcase the wealth and diversity of businesses in the area in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. With the help of sponsorship, we are able to maintain reasonable ticket prices and attract more people to the Festival.
