Daniel Champagne Daniel is a dazzling young performer characterised by a one-of-a-kind guitar style featuring 2-hand tapping, body percussion and old school finger picking techniques. With dynamic vocal work all rolled into each carefully constructed original or reworked traditional numbers, Daniel Champagne delivers one of the most impressive one man shows out there. Fabio Chivanda and the Jive Masters Fabio Chivhanda is a master composer and dancer in the Shona tradition. His songs are accompanied by the Mbira, a 22 key thumb piano played inside a halved Calabash gourd. Fabio’s music expresses a fusion of his Zimbabwean roots and his current Australian experience. Born in Chivhu and raised in Mhondoro Ngezi, Fabio’s childhood was filled with the rich culture and folklore of his native area. Fabios virtuoso eight piece fusion band 'The Jive Masters' will be one of our Saturday night 'Dance Party' bands. |

Fado Piccolo Portuguese Fado duo Fado Piccolo play Fado, the traditional music of Portugal, bursting with 'saudade': longing and desire. Their repertoire will include instrumentals in both the Lisbon and Coimbra style featuring Mike playing the unique and haunting Guitarra Portugues, accompanied by Richelle on classical guitar. An added treat there will be a some traditional and contemporary Portuguese songs ranging from nostalgic ballads to the more convivial singalongs, as in Portugal. |

Fred Smith Fred Smith is one of Australia’s most remarkable artists. He has spent the last 10 years all over the globe: doing peace work in the war torn islands of the South Pacific, touring in America and travelling the Australian festival circuit where he has earned a reputation as a prolific and dynamic songwriter. More recently he has been working in Afghanistan continuing his predisposition for living in war zones. |

Jenny M Thomas and The System Jenny Thomas and her band The System have taken the traditions of Australian folk and bush music and completely rethought the tunes, arrangements and performance techniques. Jenny's post-modern bush music is arresting, controversial and yet stunningly beautiful. Avant-garde and Indian musical ideas, polyrhythms and modes. funky grooves from the band and other surprises throw our tradition in a very new light. |

Saadhana Saadhana are an Indian Tabla and Sitar duo. Jay Dabgar on tabla is one of Australia's leading exponents of Indian percussion. He hails from a musical family in India and bosts 25 years experience on his chosen instrument. He is joined by Josh Bennet on Sitar. Josh is a virtuoso who has studied this iconic Indian instrument with the depth and seriousness of a master musician. Siobhan Owen Hailing from Adelaide, 17 year old Siobhan Owens was born in Wales with Welsh and Irish heritage. Classically trained, Siobhan turns her haunting soprano voice and delicate harp playing to a repertoire of traditional Celtic songs. At a young age she has already recorded two albums, won folk performer awards and has played at many major festivals. A truly enchanting act that we have begged her to come back to Cygnet for another year. |

The Spooky Men's Chorale Darlings of the Australian and UK festival circuits, the Spooky Men are making their third visit to the Cygnet Folk Festival. This time they will be performing works from their new adventure in polycarbonate, De.ep, and also teaming up with Fred Smith for their Urban Sea Shanties show which resembles an ethnomusicological duel between the big black juggernaut and the safari suited buffoon in which only grand masculine foolishness emerges as the winner on the day. |

The Tinderbox Collective Not that long ago some of Melbourne's top young world , funk and hip hop musicians suddenly discovered Australian Bush Band music. A few old Bushwhackers albums, a few beers and overnight they experienced a terrible revelation 'That the best music in the world was Australian, that it had had a rousing revival in the 1970s and that they had missed it'. Before too long they had given this music a new life and a bold age of Bogan Folk was born. The Tinderbox Collective set last year's Cygnet on fire with unstoppable folk dance beats. They are back.
